Katra, Aug 17: A delegation of Hotel & Restaurants Association Katra led by its president Shyam Lal Kesar & Sr. vice president Rakesh Wazir called on the Administrator Municipal Committee Katra, B. Mohandaas and apprised him about the resentment of the people with regard to the recent notification published in news papers wherein sanitation user charges were proposed to be levied upon Hotels , Restaurants, Shops and other commercial establishments.
Mr. Kesar said that there are more than 40 Municipalities in the state and no such tax has been imposed by any municipality in the whole state and all of a sudden the proposed imposition of tax has created resentment among the people and particularly when lot many taxes are being charged by different authorities at Katra for services which are not being provided by them at all. Mr.Wazir while speaking on the occasion said that if this service would have been started subject to the choice of the commercial establishments on voluntary basis everybody would have welcomed that but forcible levying of tax through notification is highly objectionable and major cause of resentment among the people. He requested the Administrator to immediately intervene into the matter and withdraw this notification at the earliest.
Mr. Mohandaas listened to the delegation patiently and assured that no forcible tax will be imposed on any commercial or other establishment and if this service would be started it would be purely on voluntarily basis on the choice of establishment and people of Katra need not worry about that.
The delegation among others comprised Harish Dubey, Varinder Kesar,Madan Baniya,Koushal Magotra, Nishant Sharma and Raman Sharma.
