Pak targets civilians

Pakistan army has intensified recurrent firing and shelling across the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir. It has inducted new tactics of disrupting peace on LoC and creating serious difficulties for the civilian population on our side of the border to enjoy the fruits of development.  This time Pakistan army has concentrated on border towns of Balakote and Savjian in Poonch district. In its latest tactics, Pakistan army has opened a new front in Manjakote in Rajouri district, and secondly, Pakistan army has targeted civilian population and civilian houses in Balakot, Savjian, Mandi and Manjkot sectors of Poonch/Rajouri districts. Not to speak of border skirmishes, even in open wars, civilians have not to be targeted according to Geneva Convention. But the lawless and rogue army units of Pakistan, in accompaniment of state sponsored terrorists from various organizations like LeT, JeM and others, have been pounding civilian houses, cattle and human beings with heavy mortars like 120 mm and 82 mm killing them in brutal and barbaric manner. In worst ever shelling by Pakistan army for the past several years, six civilians including a Sarpanch and a woman were killed and over 20 other civilians including three members of a family were injured.
The reckless firing and shelling by Pakistan on civilian population reflects the frustration that has overtaken her army. On the one hand, the suicide bombers and terrorists sponsored by LeT and other terrorist organizations with the support of Pakistan army are pressurized to cross the border clandestinely and undertake subversive activities on our side of the LoC, but on the other hand Pak army opens firing and shelling on civilian targets. Is this the jihad Pakistani terrorist outfits are fighting against India?  Pakistani jihadi outfits call themselves puritanical Islamists who want to clean the earth of infidelity and heresy. Is shelling and firing and killing of innocent co-religionists in most brutal and barbaric manner the sum and substance of Pakistan’s Islamic jihad? A large number of small students, boys and girls of Pine Wood School in Bosooni village in Balakot area had miraculous escape from the mortar shelling of Pakistani troops. One fails to imagine the beastly and barbaric mindset of Pakistani army commanders who have no qualms of conscience in attacking the school going children and their teachers. It speaks tons about the frustration and lack of direction of Pakistani army.  The UN Human Rights Council will be meeting in Geneva in September for its annual session and India should very strongly raise the issue of Pakistan’s firing and shelling of civilian population. The world body has to be told in no ambiguous words that Pakistan army is a lawless organization out to destroy innocent human lives for satisfying its anti-India urge.
We offer condolence to the bereaved families in Balakote, Savjyan, Mandi, Manjkot and other places where fatalities have happened by Pakistani firing and shelling. We share their pain and suffering. The Army commanders tell us that befitting reply is given to silence Pakistani firing and shelling. However, we abhor unprovoked firing and killing of innocent people. We do not want to escalate tension on the border, yet we will not allow Pakistan succeed in its nefarious designs. Pakistan is a society divided, fragmented and tormented. It is locked in a grim battle between the fundamentalists and the liberals, between the civilian authority and military hegemony. It needs diverting attention of restive masses and therefore escalates tension on the LoC.
