JAMMU, Aug 18: The Government today set up a Committee of Ministers and officers to examine all issues related to the posting of Numberdars and Chowkidars.
The Committee will be headed by Revenue Minister Javed Mustafa Mir as convenor.
Its members include Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Abdul Haq Khan, Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu and Administrative Secretaries of Finance, Revenue and Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Departments.
The Administrative Secretary Rural Development Department will be Member Secretary of the Committee.
An official order said the Committee will examine issues related to making Numberdars and Chowkidars productive functionaries in the existing system of self government when the Panchayats across the State have been established and the issue of remuneration of Numberdars and Chowkidars.
