JAMMU, Aug 18: The residents of Laxmi Nagar area of Muthi are facing problems due to erratic power and water supply.
The residents alleged that unscheduled power cuts are on rise in the area, which give sleepless night to them. Not only in night, but during the day time, erratic power supply also creates problems, they added.
“At a time when the humid conditions are increasing day-by-day, the PDD is least bothered about the problems being faced by the residents”, one of the residents said.
He added nobody from the PDD seems to be ready to take steps to provide succor to the people during the prevailing humid conditions.
“Our area is metered and people are paying regular electricity bills, even then the residents are subjected to unscheduled power cuts not only in the day, but during night also”, he stated.
The intensity of the prevailing situation can be gauged from the fact that sometimes scheduled power cuts are allowed to continue for one and half or two hours without any intimation to the consumers thereby conveying that those at the helm of affairs in the department are least bothered about the difficulties being faced people especially children, women and old age persons.
In such a situation when the people try to approach the concerned officers and officials to ascertain the reason behind the prolonging of curtailments nobody picks up the telephone at the grid stations and when asked about the unscheduled power cuts to the concerned PDD officials of the area, they shift the matter to the shoulders of grid station officials.
He stated that for the past over one week, the water supply in the area has also got hampered, which has added woes among the residents.
The residents appealed to the MLA Raipur-Domana constituency and Minister for Social Welfare Bali Bhagat to order for the installation of another transformer in Laxmi Nagar area so that the people will get regular power and water supply too.
