Dogri students, scholars call on Kavinder Gupta

JAMMU, Aug 18:  A delegation of Research Scholars and students of Dogri Department in Jammu University today called on Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta and submitted him a memorandum highlighting various demands.
They demanded introduction of Dogri language as a compulsory subject at Primary level and appointment of  Dogri teachers at the earliest, introduction of   Dogri as a subject in all Government Higher Secondary Schools in the Dogri speaking areas of J&K, B Ed Colleges and Satellite campuses of  Jammu University, Central University, SMVDU, filling up of  permanent posts of Dogri Lecturer in Government Colleges, appointment of  Dogri Translators in the J&K State Assembly and Secretariat, filling  up the vacant posts of Dogri in J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, All India Radio, Jammu, Doordarshan, Jammu and Information Department.
The delegation explained that a large number of Ph D and M Phil in Dogri with NET Qualification were unemployed and the Government must look into the demands for adjustment of these youth as well as development of Dogri language.
Kavinder Gupta gave a patient hearing and assured full cooperation in mitigating all demands enlisted in the said memorandum.
The delegation comprised of Parduman Singh, Dr Manoj Heer, Ritu Kumar Sharma, Shiv Khajuria, Kailash Mohan Bhanotra, Poonam, Sapna Narania, Sonika Jasrotia and Sunil Kumar.
