Enhancement of reservation to OBCs demanded

JAMMU, Aug 20: Members of State Advisory Board for the Welfare of Backward Classes held a meeting here today under the chairmanship of Muni Lal Badan.
The meeting demanded enhancement of percentage of OBC reservation from 2 to 27 percent, raising of annual income from three lakh to six lakh, consolidation of basic pay for the issuance of income certificate like other neighboring States like Punjab and change of nomenclature of OSC (Other Social Castes) to OBC (Other  Backward Classes) like other States of the country.
The meeting said as per recommendations of OBC Commission time to time seven percent reservation quota is still lying after giving reservation to RBA, SCs, STs, ALC, OSC and the same be given to OBCs so that the reservation quota is increased from 2 to 9 percent.
It also demanded allotment of minimum two kanals of land to OBC for construction of community hall in Kathua district, scholarship to the children of OBC community at all levels during the study period, toilet facility to OBC community under national sanitation scheme of the country for all the family holders who are suffering a lot, allotment of minimum five marlas of land to the landless OBC community for construction of their houses and announcement made by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah during recent Board meeting of backward classes.
