Convention on ‘Save reservation’ held

JAMMU, Aug 20: One-day convention on ‘Save Reservation’ was held today in the premises of Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, Jammu, organised in collaboration with other Dalit social and religious organizations, under the chairmanship of Vijay Lochan, president, All J&K Guru Ravi Dass Sabha.
While addressing the gathering, Lochan welcomed the move of Prime Minister, who agreed to get Reservation Bill introduced in the Parliament tomorrow and hoped that all political parties will cooperate to get the Bill passed.
General secretary of the Sabha, Sham Lal Basson said that it is not the first time that constitutional provisions have been challenged but if all the political parties cooperate, the Bill will surely get passed.
President, All India Megh Sudhar Sabha, J&K Unit, Milkhi Ram, maintained that the SC or ST employees have constitutional right of reservation in promotion as per Article 16 (4A) in Indian Constitution.
Banarsi Ram, president, Saryara Sabha, Bahu Fort, warned for nation wide agitation if the Bill is not passed in the Parliament. He also appealed all the parties to cooperate to get the Bill passed.
“All members of Parliament belonging to SC/ST/OBCs should get united and demand for enactment of Reservation Act and its inclusion in 9th Schedule of Constitution”, said Kesar Singh, Convenor of the Guru Ravi Dass Sabha.
Among others who spoke on the occasion includes, president, Retired SC/ST Employees Forum, Sewa Dass Digra, Mulkh Raj, president, Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, Bahu Fort, DD Shivgotra, Rattan Lal Basson and many others.
