Inter-state narco smugglers held with bhukki

JAMMU, Aug 19: Police arrested two inter-state narcotic smugglers along with 14 kilograms of poppy straw (bhukki) from their possession at Domail area, falling under the jurisdiction of Jhajjar Kotli police station.
As per police sources, on specific information, police team headed by SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan Sharma and accompanied by SHO Jhajjar Kotli police station Inspector Ravinder Singh under the supervision of Incharge SSP Jammu Rajiv Pandey raised a naka at Domail and signaled a Tavera vehicle bearing registration number JK02AB-3844 to stop for checking.
On seeing police team, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the vehicle was chased and intercepted near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered 14 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and nabbed two inter-state narcotic smugglers on the spot.
The accused have been identified as Jagfir Singh, son of Sajjan Singh of Ludhiana and Beant Singh, son of Kair Singh of Moga, Punjab.
The inter-state narcotic smugglers were carrying the poppy straw to their native place Punjab from Srinagar, but their designs were thwarted by the police.
A case under FIR Number 90/15 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against them at police station Jhajjar Kotli and investigation started.
