JAMMU, Aug 21: The International Centre for Cross Cultural Research and Human Resource Management (ICccR & HRM), University of Jammu, organized briefing cum orientation session for the newly recruited batch of MBA: International Business (MBA:IB) students (Session 2015-17).
Prof Keshav Sharma, Registrar, University of Jammu and Dean Business Studies, was the chief guest on the occasion while Prof B C Sharma, Dean Students Placement and Director, The Business School, was the guest of honour. Gurvinder Singh, Manager, Axis Bank Ltd and Ashish Kumar Isher, alumni of MBA-IB batch 2011-13, and 2012-14 respectively, also joined as corporate guests on the occasion.
Prof Keshav Sharma emphasized upon the relevance of international business programme in the context of the rapidly changing business environment. He added that for successful performance in the globalized economy, it is necessary to have the appropriate intellectual ability, decision making skills and competence to navigate through the complexities of global organizations. He also encouraged the students to strive for excellence through continuous improvement and learning.
Prof B C Sharma highlighted the importance of management skills for international business students. He motivated them to develop their skills-set and cultivate desired awareness to become global leaders. He further emphasized that to be successful in the job market, it is necessary to be abreast with business practices, culture and traditions of the corporate functioning.
Gurvinder Singh and Ashish Kumar Isher, alumni of ICccR & HRM, also shared their experiences with the new batch.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Director of ICccR & HRM, stimulated the students to endeavour for academic excellence by developing a learning instinct and competence and simultaneously utilizing the curriculum to build upon their intellectual curiosity, cognitive growth and development in a holistic manner. She also highlighted the relevance of hard work and self discipline in pursuit of success and career advancement.
Dr Pallvi Arora, Assistant Professor, ICccR & HRM, conducted proceedings of the session. Others who attended the session, included the students of the senior batch (MBA-IB), students enrolled in the Open Course from other Departments under Choice Based Credit System and the staff of ICccR &HRM.
