Two arrested for running inter-state drug trade racket

JAMMU, Aug 21: Police arrested two migrant labourers hailing from Chattisgarh for running inter-state drugs trade racket and recovered 4 kilograms of cannabis (ganja) from their possession at Bawetalab area, falling under the jurisdiction of Kanachak police station.
As per police sources, on specific inputs, police team from Kanachak police station conducted a raid in Bawetalab area.
During the raid, police nabbed two persons along with four kilograms of ganja.
The accused have been identified as Jagan Nath, son of Ajit Ram and Tara Chand, son of Jagmohan, both residents of Chattisgarh and presently residing in rented accommodation at Bawetalab.
The arrested persons had brought the consignment from their native village in Chattisgarh to sell it among the youth in Jammu, so as to make them drug addict.
The accused were about to deliver the consignment among youth of their area in Bawetalab, but police thwarted their attempt and seized the narcotic material.
A case under FIR Number under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Kanachak police station and investigations started.
Police team led by SHO Kanachak police station SI Rakesh Singh Jamwal made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Domana Surinder Sharma and Incharge SSP Jammu Rajiv Pandey.
