JAMMU, Aug 22: International Institute of Fashion Technology (IIFT), governing fashion education and industry from decades, has organized its annual exhibition “Free Spirit”: Enhance Your Ideas.
Former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah formally inaugurated the two-day exhibition by cutting the ribbon and lighting traditional lamp. MLA Devender Singh Rana was also present on the occasion.
During the exhibition, students of Fashions Designing Department showcased their creativity by preparing beautiful garments; One-piece, flares, Suits, Sarees, Lehngas using chiffon and georgette fabrics depicting freeness of the theme.
Students of Interior Designing Department prepared models, paintings, decorative pieces and sitting according to the theme. Home furnishing and garments were prepared using block, screen, tie and die, batik from Textile Designing Department. Creativity and hard work of the students could be seen in their work. Students of the departments displayed their work and portfolio to bring awareness about the field and knowledge about the Industry.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Farooq Abdullah said IIFT – over the years has contributed a great deal to fashion industry, fashion merchandising and designing industry. I am very happy to see young and talented designers of the State, he added and congratulated Centre Director Preeti Sultan and chairperson Aman Mahajan for running IIFT successfully and making garment industry stronger by providing trained professionals.
The Centre Director of IIFT- Jammu Centre, Preeti Sultan said that providing such platform to the students is giving shape and dimension to the people of Jammu who are looking forward to promote professionalism in vast spectrum of Fashion and Designing world. She specially mentioned about the contribution of the faculty members –Ritu, Chinky, Satinder and Tanu for bringing out best from the students.
