Swaraj exhorts diaspora in Egypt to stick to roots by investing in India

NEW DELHI/CAIRO : Taking forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ mission to Egypt, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj exhorted the Indian diaspora to stick to the roots by investing in India.
Addressing a gathering of Egypt-based Indians in Cairo last night, Ms Swaraj said they must devote fully to their occupations in the North African country. “However, do not forget your country. While you keep one foot here, keep the other foot also there. That is, when father goes to India, son stays back and when son goes, father stays back.”
Arriving in Cairo on her four-day two-nation tour of Egypt and Germany yesterday, the minister is today slated to hold bilateral talks with her counterpart Sameh Hassan Shoukry and meet the Secretary General of the League of Arab States Nabil El Araby. She will also call on President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi during her visit. Terror and trade top the agenda of the minster’s visit. Notably, Egypt has suffered brutal attacks and incursions by the Islamic State (IS) at Sinai peninsula in the north and security forces under General Sisi have maintained an iron-fist control on the situation.
