The issue was raised during the annual general body meeting of the association held today under the chairmanship of its president, Shyam Lal Kesar. During the meeting, the members of the association gave valuable suggestions for the promotion of the pilgrimage tourism in the State and showed concern over the continuous decline in the Vaishnodevi pilgrims.
Several decisions were taken in the meeting including perusal to the Government to enhance the Tourism Incentive Industrial policy which has been expired. The meeting showed concern that Government enhanced the Industrial policy for Industries but the basic sector of Tourism on which total economy of State is dependant, was ignored altogether and not enhanced till today.
It was further resolved that one time registration fees of the association be increased, however the annual fees will remain the same as it was. The association also showed concern over overcharging by autos viz- a viz touting at Katra and asked the authorities for control over it.
