Shah warns Pakistan of befitting reply if soldiers attacked

PUDUCHERRY, Aug 25:
In a veiled warning to Pakistan, BJP president Amit Shah today said India would not hesitate in giving a befitting reply if its soldiers were attacked on the borders.
“During the time of previous Government, there was no security for Armed forces. Armymen were beheaded. But today none would dare to do,” he said adding that the Indian forces would not hesitate in giving a befitting reply.
Addressing party workers here on his first visit to the Union territory, Shah also outlined the achievements of the NDA Government and said the party would stand behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi like a “rock”.
He said the NDA Government has brought in several distinct developmental schemes and welfare measures.
“None can point out any shortcoming in the NDA rule which came into being 15 months ago. Even our adversaries could not not find fault with us,” he said.
Shah said the Prime Minister’s schemes such as ‘Make in India‘, Jan Dhan Yojana and social security programmes were enabling the people to get the benefits of welfare measures.
Around 15 crore bank accounts had been opened under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana in the country.
The ‘Make in India’ programme was generating self employment projects. The Prime Minister`s tour abroad had witnessed ‘a big welcome and it has done the country proud,’ the BJP chief said.
“Ours is a cadre based party and we will stand behind the Prime Minister as a rock,” he said.
He said though the BJP has broadened its base across the country, the party workers should not be complacent and work hard to make greater progress.
Noting that Puducherry would go to Assembly polls in 2016, he asked the party cadres to hold door-to-door meetings and ensure that the party registered an impressive performance.
The BJP chief said the party should function in coordination with the Government led by AINRC, with which it has an alliance.
Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan, President of Tamil Nadu State unit of BJP Tamilisai Soundararajan, observer for the party affairs in Puducherry Mahesh Giri, MP, local unit chief M Visweswaran, MLA, and leaders of different wings of the party were present.
Earlier, Shah also held a brief meeting with investors and entrepreneurs. (PTI)
