Jammu, Aug 25: Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), Nagrota celebrated its 49th anniversary today. A week long activities, finally culminating to a family meet organised in Nagrota garrison wherein all the families of the serving Soldiers of White Knight Corps, Stationed at Nagrota, attended with full Zeal & enthusiasm .
The AWWA day celebrations spread over the week were marked by lectures on different subjects, competitions involving all groups, plantation drive and other such activities. Today, during the family meet Sheela Nimbhorkar, Zonal President, AWWA, White Knight Corps inaugurated the function with “Deep-Prajwalan” amid applaud by happy families  of Nagrota garrison.
In her message to the members of AWWA – one of the largest registered NGO of the country, Mrs Nimbhorkar exhorted the fraternity to look at the positive side of every aspect and touched upon the beauty of diversity of the nation. She elaborated as how to know each other as AWWA members and make friends among people from all over the country is something we all should be proud of.
The Zonal President, AWWA, White Knight Corps felicitated Veer Naris during the function and  other selected ladies for their outstanding contribution to the  organisation. During the function, a lecture on pension, financial and other benefits to Next Of Kin of deceased soldiers was also given which was appreciated by all present. A documentary on the theme of child abuse was also screened with the aim to spread awareness amongst all on this sensitive issue prevailing in the society. During the function children of serving soldiers presented a dance programme which was applauded by all the audiences. The function was concluded over tea with all the AWWA members of the Nagrota Garrison.
