Stop using Facebook: CJ to JOs

JAMMU, Aug 27: Chief Justice of State High Court, Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar has restrained the Judicial Officers from using Facebook friendship club culture, which has a potential of sending wrong signals to the public in general and litigants in particular.
“It has come to the knowledge of Chief Justice that some Judicial Officers have developed a practice of Facebook friendship club culture with Advocates and members of civil society which has a potential of sending wrong signals to the public in general and litigants in particular”, reads a circular issued by the High Court.
Taking serious view of this tendency on the part of such Judicial Officers, the Chief Justice has directed all the Judicial Officers of the State that they must maintain a descent standard of conduct in their private life and not do any act in a manner which is unbecoming of a member of Judicial Service that would bring discredit to the institution of judiciary.
“In case any Judicial Officer is found involved in a misdemeanor of such kind, he/she will make himself liable to action under the Conduct Rules”, the circular said.
Meanwhile, Chief Justice, who is also Patron-in-Chief of State Legal Services Authority, has reconstituted the High Court Legal Services Committee.
Justice Hasnain Masoodi is the Chairman of the Committee while as Advocates K S Johal, D C Raina, Z A Shah and Arifa Jan and social worker Nusrat Andrabi are its members while as Ajay Gupta, Joint Registrar, High Court Wing Jammu is the Member Secretary (Incharge) of the committee.
