HIRANAGAR, Aug 27: Launching a scathing attack on All India Congress Committee (AICC), vice president and MP, Rahul Gandhi who accused the present Government of not constructing temporary shelters for border people, Union Minister of State in PMO with independent charge of North Eastern States, Dr Jitendra Singh today said that Congress leader should have introspected before making such a statement as his Party was basically responsible for the plight of border people.
Addressing a function in connection with Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojna launched by him on the eve of Raksha Bandhan near here today, Dr Singh said that instead of blaming BJP or NDA, Rahul Gandhi and his Congress Party which headed the UPA I and UPA II at Centre for 10 long years and also ruled the State for about 45 years should make an introspection that who is responsible for the plight of border people in the State.
Dr Singh said it seems that Congress leader has neither done proper home work nor research on the issue. He said it was BJP which had launched a struggle for the rights of border people since the time of Praja Parishad. “We always struggled for the rights of border people and even were jailed at many times for taking a principled stand on the issue”, he added.
Lambasting the Congress, the Union Minister said “no one can understand the plight and problem of border people better than us as the Congress Party was mother of all crisis in this border State”.
He said that Rahul Gandhi came to visit border areas to atone for the sins of his Party as Congress has always harmed the cause and interests of the people of the border State, right from 1947. Turning tables on Congress leader, Dr Singh said how can Congress claim to champion the cause of the people of the State when the Party is responsible for cancellation of Dogra certificates in the State.”The Dogra certificates were cancelled when the Congress was heading the State Government”, he added
Maintaining that BJP is committed to settle the problems of border people, he said 80 kanals of land were allotted to them in Hiranagar area where five marlas of land will be allotted to each family of the border area in the safer places to construct their temporary shelters. “How can Rahul Gandhi teach us about the pain of border people”, he asked?
He said the NC -Congress coalition also created hitches in allotment of land for biotech Party at Ghatti Kathua and it was only after Governor rule was imposed in the State that land was transferred for the park.
While launching the Prime Minister’s Suraksha Bima Yojna on the eve of Raksha Bandhan from the girl students and teachers of Ek Vidyalaya, Dr Singh said the people of these Viydalayas are most deserving cases where from the yojna should be started as they come from poor strata society. “It is not a big achievement to launch the yojna from affluent classes of society but starting the scheme from these deserving people is a big achievement”, he added.
Dr Singh while highlighting the various schemes launched by Modi Government for the welfare of people said through these schemes BJP Government gave an identity to the poor people to live a life with self esteem.
Dr Singh said he has also adopted four villages in the Parliamentary Constituency and insurance cover of the girl students in these villages will be borne by him. The programme was also graced by Swami Subash Bharti Ji.
Addressing the function, senior BJP leader and MLC Ashok Khajuria also highlighted the various schemes of public welfare launched by Narendra Modi. He said with the implementation of these schemes a new era of prosperity will begin in the country.
Khajuria said Prime Minister Mr Modi has taken revolutionary steps which will change the fate of the nation within a decade. He asked the people to be cautious of the opposition’s false propaganda and strengthen the hand of PM Narendra Modi.
MLA Kathua Rajiv Jasrotia also highlighted the welfare schemes launched for the poor and downtrodden people of the country by Prime Minster. He said Dr Jitendra Singh took keen interest in implementation of these schemes in the State.
