JAMMU, Aug 28: The Ace of Spade Division flagged off a Mountaineering Expedition to Mountain Zago Kangri in the Siachen Glacier region from Rajouri, today.
Indian Army has a long standing tradition of fostering spirit of adventure amongst all its ranks and has been a role model in undertaking high risk adventure activities.
The 6550 meters high Zago Kangri peak is unscaled, thereby making the challenge even greater.
The team consists of 21 members including three reserve members and is a mix of experienced and first time climbers.
A similar expedition was earlier launched last summer but due to inclement weather in September 2014 the expedition had to be called off midway.
The General Officer Commanding, Ace of Spade Division while flagging off the expedition said that he was confident that the team will come back with success.
Lt Col Yogesh Dhumal, Team leader of the expedition said that the whole team has undergone a rigorous training schedule and was ready to undertake the expedition with success.
