Kissan Advisory Board discusses measures for welfare of farmers

JAMMU, Aug 28: Daljit Singh Chib, Vice Chairman J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kissans today convened  a meeting of officers of the Agriculture and allied sectors along with the progressive farmers of Jammu region here today.
Initiating the proceedings, Mr Chib expressed his heartfelt condolences over the deaths of some farmers in R. S. Pura Border due to Pak shelling. Two minutes silence was observed by the participants.
Later he apprised the participants about his observations of interactive meetings held during the past few months.
Director Horticulture, Anil Sharma provided complete details of working and performance of  various programmes of the Department and it was encouraging to note that Horticulture production has increased from 1.87 lakh metric tons to 3.14 lakh metric tons.
In the Floriculture sector, the Director Floriculture Ashok Gupta informed that marigold cultivation should be adopted by the small the marginal farmers for addition to their income. He gave details of the schemes available with the department.
Dr. Bhagat, Director of Animal Husbandry apprised about  the schemes like private para vet workers, insemination of Desi cows, dairy units and poultry.
R. K. Gupta, The Superintending Engineer, Irrigation (Hydraulic) stated that the department is hopeful for completing the construction of incomplete tube wells at the earliest.
The Joint Directors of Fisheries and Sericulture departments provided details of the schemes of their respective departments.
The meeting ended with the vote of thanks from the Vice Chairman Kisan Advisory Board.
D. P Khajuria,  Rajesh Bitu,  Kulbushan Khajouria, Chowdery Dev Raj, Avtar Singh Chehal, Raghunandan Khajuria,  Narayan Dutt Tripathi, Davender Singh,  Rakesh Anthal, Narayan Sharma, Surinder Singh,  Baldev Singh,  Tonda Singh etc were the prominent farmers who attended the meeting.
