Rich tributes paid to Pt Prem Nath Shastri

JAMMU, Aug 31: The 16th Punitethi of Jyotshi Prem Nath Shastri the doyen of Kashmiri culture was performed today.
In this connection a Maha Yagya was solemnized at Mattan Anantnag in Kashmir Valley by Pt Prem Nath Shastri Sanskritik Shodh Sansthan.
A large number of devotees drawn from various parts of the Kashmir, Jammu as well as the PM package employees participated in the function which concluded with immersion of Kalash in river Vitasta at Shiv Temple Bijbehara (Vijeshwar) the hometown of Shastri Ji.
On the occasion  pooja -archana was also performed in the Shiv temple by the devotees led by Pt Omkar Nath Shastri, chairman of the Shodh Sansthan. The Maha Yagya concluded with puranahuti. The Kalash Yatra proceeded from Sun Temple Martand to Shiv Temple Bijbehara in a cavalcade of vehicles.
After the Visarjan ceremony the devotees were served with Prashad.
Various religious scholars spoke on the occasion and paid glorious tributes to Shastri Ji. They, while highlighting his contribution to Society said that he was a revolutionary religious leader who always believed in scientific change and linked the Shastra with science.
They said that Shastri Ji was against the dogmas, false beliefs and superstitions and always advocated for high values of life as taught by Shastras. They termed him a  uniting factor among Kashmiri Hindu community whose services will be remembered for ever.
President Prohit Sabha Martand Ashok Sidha, Jyotshi Bushan Lal and Jyotshi Avtar Krishan Shastri were the organizers of the programme.
