JAMMU, Sept 7: A meeting of College Teachers Association was held today with president Dr Sanjay Verma in the chair to discuss the various issues being faced by college teachers.
CTA discussed the demands of issuance of order of placement of Assistant Professors in Rs 8000 grade pay to Associate Professors , which is pending for the last one and half year and the matter is still unresolved. They stressed that for no fault of the teachers the placement is still pending and the department is not able to solve the issue for one reason or the other.
They said that the placement to Associate Professor of some teachers which was due on or before April 21, 2014 is still pending due to wrong implementation of SRO-124. The association demanded that the SRO-124 should be implemented on the priority basis as has been done in case of implementing UGC conditions by UGC.
The association also discussed the issue of increment on placement from one AGP to other. The association was of the view that since the increment on placement is given to all State/Central Government employees/Central University /Jammu University teachers as well as to the teachers of colleges outside the State, so this benefit should also be given to the college teachers of the State.
The association expressed serious concern on non-availability of teachers in various colleges. The association took up the matter of transfers of those teachers who have completed their tenure outside and expressed that they should back to the nearest station of their home town and extreme care should be taken to avoid city to city transfers.
Those present in the meeting were Prof M S Saini, Prof D S Manhas, Prof Narayan Dutt, Dr Anil Ganjoo, Prof Rakesh Singh, Dr Sunil Gupta, Prof Hans Raj and Dr Vishal Sharma.
