Tanker driver killed, 11 injured in road accidents

JAMMU, Aug 22: One person was killed while 11 persons were injured in road accidents.
As per reports, a petrol tanker bearing registration number JK02AE 6248, on way to Jammu from Srinagar, skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge near Patnitop.
Police along with locals rushed to the spot and shifted the tanker driver Mohan Singh, of Tali Morh, Miran Sahib, to nearby hospital, where doctors declared him as brought dead.
Meanwhile, 11 persons were injured, when the Tata Sumo they were traveling in, skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge in Dharmode area of tehsil Batote, district Ramban
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK14A 7337, was on its way to Dak, Darmote from Doda, when it met with an accident, causing grievous injuries to all its occupants.
On getting information, police party from Batote Police Station led by SHO Verinder Singh, rushed to the spot and with the help of locals started rescue operation.
All the injured were shifted to Sub District Hospital Batote in police and other vehicles. Later, two of them critically injured, were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for specialized treatment.
The injured were identified as Mohd Yousuf, Rehmat Begum, Shah Nawaz, Jeba Begum, Insaf Ahmed, Sakina Begum, Farooq Ahmed, Mehbooba, Abdul Rehman, Razia Begum and Mohd Rafiq.
A case has been registered at Batote Police Station and investigation started.
