All J&K Hajjis safe: Govt

Srinagar, Sept 12: The State Government today said that the Jammu and Kashmir Hajj pilgrims are safe in Holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia where 107 people died after a crane collapsed in Grand Mosque.
Hajj and Auqaf Minister Abdul Rehman Veeri told Excelsior that all the pilgrims from the State are safe. “We are in contact with our people in Mecca and as per latest information I received from Meeca, all the pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir are safe. There are no deaths or injuries to anyone from our State,” he said.
The Minister further said that they have also conveyed to the families of the pilgrims that their dear ones are safe. He added that he is in constant touch with the concerned officials in Mecca
The tragedy left the families of Hajj pilgrims in worry as they were concerned about the fate of their loved ones. The officials said that they received hundreds of distress calls from people seeking information about the condition of J&K pilgrims.
