JAMMU, Sept 13: Divisional Commissioner, who is also 1st Appellate Authority under Right to Information Act, has directed all the Deputy Commissioners to ensure that the District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committees (DGPCs) appoint Public Information Officers and Appellate Authorities in their respective committees.
The direction has been passed in an appeal filed by RTI activist Balvinder Singh.
“Since the Gurdwaras have been declared as Public Authorities by the Delhi High Court in a case between Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee and one Mohinder Singh Mathru, all the Deputy Commissioners should ensure that the newly constituted DGPCs immediately make arrangements for implementation of the Act and without loss of time appoint PIOs and Appellate Authorities in their respective committees”, the order said.
“The compliance of the order shall be ensured within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of this order”, the Divisional Commissioner said.
