SRINAGAR: Twenty guests from Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir (POK) arrived here today while three Kashmiris crossed over to other side of the Line of Control (LoC) to meet their relatives separated in 1947 due to partition.
As many as 29 returnees also crossed sides at Kaman post, the last Indian military post on this side of the LoC in Uri sector in north Kashmir district of Baramulla, official sources said.
They said 20 PoK residents, half of them women, arrived at Kaman post after crossing the Aman Setu, peace bridge on foot today. Three residents of Kashmir who had crossed to other side in previous Karvan-e-Aman bus also returned after completing stay with their relatives in POK.
However, only three Kashmir, including a woman, crossed to other side to meet their relatives, separated in 1947. They said 26 PoK residents, who had arrived here in previous buses, returned to their homes after completing stay in Kashmir. They included ten women.
The bus service, introduced on April 7, 2005 has helped thousands of families, divided due to partition to meet each after India and Pakistan agreed to allow travel of permanent residents on both sides to undertake the travel on ‘Travel Permits’ instead of passport. (AGENCIES)
