SRINAGAR, Sept 14: Acting on Supreme Court’s landmark decision regarding linkage of Aadhaar with Public Distribution System, Minister for CA&PD, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali and Minister for Information Technology Imran Raza Ansari today held a high level meeting to discuss modalities for its implementation.
Secretary CA&PD, Secretary Information Technology, Secr-etary Social Welfare, Director CA&PD Kashmir, Director CA&PD Jammu besides other senior officers of line departments attended the meeting.
The meeting dwelt in detail on the strategy for linking Aadhaar with PDS in the State to reshape the whole system as per the guidelines laid down by the Apex Court.
Ch. Zulfkar Ali stressed upon the Information Technology Department authorities to make the network user friendly as this linkage would play a vital role in checking diversions besides tracking whole supply chain process. He further asked them to complete the Aadhaar updation process and its linkage with CA&PD before October 15, as the unique identification card would be a mandatory document for several welfare initiatives in future.
Elaborating on the salient features of Aadhaar card, the Minister said that the single unique identification document can be used as sole identity proof which will not only serve as a social security card but also as powerful tool to weed out bogus data. He also asked the higher authorities of CA&PD and IT Department to actively engage all stake holders in completion of the process.
Later, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali, in another meeting, directed the Deputy Commissioners of various districts to prepare list of those families who were left out in the census 2011 so that these families also get registered in the new list.
