JAMMU, Sept 14: A Bomb Disposal Squad of police today defused three live mortar shells in Arnia sector along the International Border (IB) in Jammu district this morning.
Official reports said local people detected three mortar shells in canal and sounded BSF and police, which reached the spot and sealed the area. Movement of the civilians was restricted in the area.
SHO Arnia police station Inspector Abid Rafiqi rushed to the spot along with police teams.
Police later called the Bomb Disposal Squad, which took the mortar shells to safer area and defused them. Reports said the mortars might have fallen into the canal during shelling by the Pakistani Rangers.
