MLA, KU VC, Roma call on Governor

SRINAGAR, Sept 16 : M.Y. Tarigami, Member J&K Legislative Assembly, Kulgam, called on the Governor N.N. Vohra, here at the Raj Bhavan today.
Mr. Tarigami had extensive discussions with the Governor on several important issues relating to the State and expressed apprehensions about the likely fall out of certain recent public controversies.
Dr. Khurshid Andrabi, Vice Chancellor, University of Kashmir also called on Governor. Besides informing the Governor about the overall functioning of the University, Dr. Andrabi apprised the former about the challenges relating to the purposeful functioning of the Kargil and Leh Campuses.
The Governor reiterated the importance of the teachers and students maintaining sustained focus on the academic activities, keeping well away from factions which thwart their scholastic objectives.
Roma Wani, Honorary General Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS)-J&K, also called on Governor and briefed him about the district-wise activities of the IRCS in the State and stated that the Society has been making continuing efforts to induct an increasing number of volunteers to enable this organization to play a fruitful role.
The Governor stressed the need for training the volunteers to remain in a state of ever readiness to deal with any arising emergency and for the Society to carry out meaningful activities throughout the year, including the mobilization of voluntary donations.
