Traffic on Baramulla-Uri-Muzzarfarabd road remains suspended

SRINAGAR: Traffic remained suspended on the Baramulla-Uri-Muzafarabad raod for the second day today though work was going on to repair the affected stretch.
The road, linking Muzaffarabad, capital of Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) through border town of Uri with Srinagar, has been closed from both sides with tin sheets and the area has been sealed after the road sunk at Khanpora yesterday, they said.
A senior officer said that Border Roads Organisation (BRO), responsible for the maintenance of the highway, has already started repair work of the road stretch.
A temple suffered some damage as 70 feet road caved in and there is about  40 feet deep carter which is now being filled.
The officer said if everything goes normally and there is no more road erosion, traffic will be resumed through alternative temporary road being constructed nearby.      However, traffic from Uri and other places has been diverted through another road which is longer. (AGENCIES)
