SRINAGAR, Sept 18: Minister for Social Welfare, Forests and Environment Bali Bhagat launched the official website of Jammu & Kashmir State Social Welfare Board (JKSSWB) here today.
Minister of State for Social Welfare, Health and Medical Education Asiea Naqash and Chairperson J&K State Social Welfare Board Prof. Nirmal Gupta were present on the occasion.
Complimenting the Board management on the launch of website and facebook page, the Minister said this would help in easy accessibility to masses and bring transparency and efficacy in the functioning of the Board. He said that social media connects us with masses and is getting momentum day by day. He called for connecting the links of other wings of Social Welfare Department to the website.
The Minister asked the concerned for bringing more improvements in the website. He also asked for uploading version of Hindi, Urdu and other local languages regarding various welfare schemes.
The Minister said that the concept of NGOs was excellent for extending social services to the needy, poor, distressed and downtrodden and some NGOs have also done commendable job in this regard. He called upon the representatives of NGOs to work with zeal and missionary spirit, adding that the Government would extend every possible help to bring the mission forward.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Asiea urged the NGOs to work for ameliorating socio-economic condition of poor and downtrodden with the close coordination of the Board.
Prof. Nirmal Gupta said that the collective and voluntary efforts and sense of responsibility can bring change in the society.
Secretary, Social Welfare Department and representatives from Other Backward Classes Board and NGOs were also present on the occasion.
