Cardamom down on muted demand

NEW DELHI, Sept 19:  Prices of cardamom brown fell by Rs 50 per kg in the national capital today largely due to weak demand from retailers and stockists prevailing at higher levels amid adequate stocks.
Increased arrivals from producing regions also lowered the cardamom brown prices.
Cardamom brown-Jhundiwali and Kanchicut prices declined by Rs 50 each to conclude at Rs 1,400-1,500 and Rs 1,730-1,780 per kg, respectively.
Marketmen said subdued demand from retailers and stockists against adequate stocks, mainly pulled down cardamom prices.
Following are today’s quotations (in Rs):
Ajwain (per kg) Rs160-190, black pepper (per kg) Rs 660-815, betel-nut (kg) Rs 300-350, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) Rs 1,400-1,500 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) Rs 1,730-1,780.
Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar Rs 780-830, cardamom (colour robin) Rs 760-790, cardamom bold Rs 780-800, cardamom extra (bold) Rs 900-950 and cloves Rs 680-780. (PTI)
