Judicial Academy organizes refresher course for Munsiffs

SRINAGAR, Sept 20: Under the guidance and patronage of chief patron of State Judicial Academy, Justice N. Paul Vasanthakumar, Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Committee of Judges, State Judicial Academy (Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar, Chairman, Justice Hasnain Massodi, Member and Justice Janak Raj Kotwal, Member), Jammu and Kashmir State Judicial Academy today conducted one day Refresher course on “(a) Remand, Bail and Cognizance; and (b) Moot Court including Order Writing” for all Munsiffs of 2010 and 2013 batch of Kashmir province except of Pulwama, Ganderbal and Kupwara.
Pawan Dev Kotwal, Director, State Judicial Academy and Yash Paul Bourney, Spl. Judge, Anti-corruption, Srinagar were the Resource persons.
In his introductory remarks, Director, State Judicial Academy deliberated on the need for conducting of such refresher course for young Judicial Officers.
The Resource persons enlightened the participants regarding ways and means which they can adopt while taking cognizance on the charge-sheet, admitting accused on remand, bail and reminded the Judicial Officers about their powers, duties and responsibilities.
The participating officers were also made to write orders on remand and interim bail and thereafter Resource persons dwelt upon the various requirements for drafting such orders in accordance with the relevant provisions of law. The participating officers posed many questions as to the provisions relating to bails, remands, cognizance and even other statutory and procedural laws which were answered by the Hon’ble Resource person to their satisfaction.
