SSRB to be approached for fast track recruitment: Zulfkar

JAMMU, Sept 20: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Ch Zulfkar Ali today said that Service Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB) would be requested to fast-track the recruitments for the posts referred by the CAPD Department so that problem of huge manpower crunch is addressed. Moreover, fresh letters would be dashed to the Administrative Secretaries of Finance, Law and General Administration Departments for deploying manpower in the CAPD to improve its functioning particularly in Jammu province.
Taking serious note of news-item appearing in today’s edition of EXCELSIOR under caption “Huge manpower crunch contributing to malpractices in CAPD Department”, the Minister said, “the department had referred 290 different level posts to the SSRB for recruitment but till date selection process has not been completed”.
“We are going to request the SSRB to fast-track the recruitment so that manpower crunch in the department is addressed”, he said, adding “though some posts were filled in the past but appointment against majority of vacant posts is yet to be conducted by the Board”.
About the vacant posts of Accounts Assistants, Law Officers, Prosecutors and Assistant Directors, the Minister said, “we have already taken up the issue with the Finance, Law and General Administration Departments”, adding “we are going to issue reminders so that these departments provide adequate manpower for smooth functioning of the CAPD Department”.
With regard to delay in convening of Departmental Promotion Committee meeting, Ch Zulfkar said, “none of the employee of the CAPD Department is eligible for promotion to the posts of Head Assistants and Tehsil Supply Officers”, adding “we have decided to relax the rules so that promotions are affected and vacant posts at this level are filled up”.
Stating that manpower crunch is more in Jammu division as compared to Kashmir valley, he said, “despite huge vacancies we are managing the affairs of the department and after filling up of the vacant posts the functioning would improve considerably”.
