Ganai visits border villages

POONCH, Sept 20: To assess the damages, Member Legislative Council (MLC) Dr Shehnaz Ganai today visited border villages including Sawjian, Gagrian, Chaprian which witnessed heavy shelling from across the border.
Dr Ganai appealed to the Government to be proactive and take immediate steps for construction of concrete bunkers in the villages which are within the direct firing range.
She added that due to continuous firing, the people are suffering and Government has failed to rehabilitate them to safer places.
“Provide compensation to the affected people and free ration for six months”, she demanded.
Later she met the officials of 40 RR Camp, and discussed with them the prevailing situation. She also met with the police and officers of civil administration and asked them to coordinate with army in defusing the live shells that are lying in the fields, so as to prevent any untoward incident.
