Welder murdered in Mendhar

JAMMU, Sept 20: A middle-aged man running a welding shop at Mendhar was dragged from his car and then murdered on the road by some unknown assailants in Manjakote area of district Rajouri last midnight.
The body of the deceased identified as Abdul Majid (42), son of Alaf Din, resident of Darana near Mendhar was lying on the road near his K-10 Alto car, just near village Dabrote in Deri Lalyote area, under Manjakote Police jurisdiction. A shopkeeper noticed the body of the unknown man lying on the road and car parked nearby at around 6.45 am. He informed the members of nearby house of one Mohd Latief, son of Alla Ditta.
Some more people gathered there and they informed Police Station, Manjakote about the matter. The police party led by SHO, Insp NS Jamwal reached the spot along with some men. DySP Zaheer Shaheen also arrived there after some time. The police examined the vehicle and the dead body and then shifted it to District Hospital Rajouri for postmortem. The identity of the deceased was established by police from the documents recovered from the vehicle and also from the driving license of the victim. They informed the family members. The police claimed to have also recovered a bottle of whisky from the vehicle.
SHO said that apparently, deceased was fired upon his head with some pistol or mouser and bullet hit near his fore head near eye and went off causing minor injury but there was another deep wound on the head caused with some sharp edged weapon. It indicates that he was dragged out and then done to death by some people. He said a Board of doctors was constituted by the Magistrate and they performed postmortem on the body. A case FIR No. 61/2015 under Sections 302 RPC and 3/25 Arms Act has been registered against the assailants.
Abdul Qayoom, elder brother of deceased Abdul Majid said that Majid left for Jammu in his car from home ( Mendhar) last evening at round 6.30 pm. He had to meet his lawyer in Jammu in connection with the case in the High Court pertaining to murder of their another brother. He said their brother Abdul Rehman had been murdered by 10 people from the same village during Panchayat elections. All the 10 accused were granted life imprisonment by the District Court. But nine accused managed to get bail from the High Court at Jammu while one was still in the jail. These nine accused who were moving freely now were after them and have murdered Abdul Majid. He alleged that the Court allowed to move out these criminals freely and they engineered another murder. The police said that they have started raids to nab the suspects in this connection.
