JAMMU, Sept 23: Shri Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha, J&K and several other organizations celebrated 121st birth Anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh across the region and also took out a grand Shobha Yatra in the city of temples here.
At Tawi bridge where statue of Maharaja Hari Singh is installed, many prominent Rajput Sabha members and several others assembled to pay rich tributes to Maharaja Hari Singh, the last Dogra ruler of Jammu and Kashmir State. Many prominent citizen of Jammu highlighted their views and remembered the excellent work done by the Maharaja for the development of Jammu and Kashmir.
Pavitar Singh (Retd Judge) while highlighting his views on the achievements of Maharaja and his life, referred to establishment of Jammu and Kashmir Bank to streamline the economic conditions of the State and setting up of Court in order to put justice on track, SMGS Hospital at Jammu and SMHS at Srinagar. Not only this but in order to bring equality and to abolish untouchability he allowed the entry of Scheduled Castes in the temples.
Maharaja Hari Singh Ji finally acceded to the State of Jammu and Kashmir with the dominion of India on October 26, 1947 without any condition. He said the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir must celebrate this function in a grand way in every nook and corner of the State.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Abhinav Sharma (Chairman Coordination Committee), Rakesh Gupta, Rajeev Chunni, BS Jamwal, Inderjeet Khajuria president (AJHALA), Kuldeep Wahi, Gajan Singh, ML Sharma, Prof BL Bhardwaj, Avinash Bhatia, R L Tandon, Uday Chand, Kamla Sharma, Pawan Singh Chib, Mangleshwar Singh.
For the first time after almost 3 decades, the Rajput community of J&K organized a Shobha Yatra in the shape of Car/Motorcycle rally today which was organized by the Yuva Rajput Sabha (YRS) on the eve of 120th Birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh today.
The Shobha Yatra was flagged off from MD Resort, Bantalab by Devender Singh Rana (MLA Nagrota), Surinder Singh, president Yuva Rajput Sabha and District president NC Dharamveer Singh Jamwal. It passed through Chinore, Janipur, Newplot, Ambphala, Panjtirthi, Kachi Chawni, Parade, Shalamar, Indira Chowk, Gummat, and finally culminated at Tawi bridge near Maharaja Hari Singh Ji’s Samarak where the team of YRS performed Puja Archana for Maharaja Sahib.
Apart from the general Rajput community, the rally was attended by many prominent dignitaries.
YRS also declared to make this Shobha Yatra as a Annual event of Rajput community and in coming time YRS will start campaign to unite and strengthen the Rajput community and will make this event as a mega event of Rajput community.
Meanwhile, management and staff of Maharaja Hari Singh Social and Education Foundation, Jammu and Rajput Charitable Trust J&K Jammu paid rich tributes to Maharaja Hari Singh on his 121st birth anniversary.
The program started with garlanding of statue of Maharaja Hari Singh by Rajesh Gupta MLA followed by Ruchi Chabra, Principal Delhi Public School Jammu, Meenu Gupta Headmistress DPS Jammu, MS Jamwal, Secretary Rajput Charitable Trust, CL Malhotra, SS Jamwal, RC Gupta and many others.
Ms Chabra spoke high about Maharaja Sahib who made many social reforms about 100 years back which are very important and useful even today for the general public. She also stated that Maharaja Sahib was an epitome of good governance which allowed the people to live their life respectfully and peacefully.
The program concluded with the distribution of blankets and sweets to the old age persons on this auspicious occasion who were invited to grace the occasion.
The birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh was celebrated in Sainik Colony today with full enthusiasm. The people in large number gathered at Maharaja Hari Singh Chowk and celebrated the birthday of Maharaja. Jai Singh, ex- Corporator was the chief guest on this occasion. He highlighted the main achievements of Maharaja Hari Singh. He was considered as the secular king of the State. He quoted that justice was his religion.
Promient among others who spoke on this occasion included Amar Singh chairman Sainik Cooperative Society, SS Dogra IG Retd, Brig Uttam Singh, Capt Ravinder Singh, Capt Bodh Raj Sharma, Capt Chunni Lal and others.
J&K Dharmarath Trust performed a special Puja on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh at Ranbireshwar Temple here today. The Puja was performed by head priest Pr Darshan Kumar Sharma in presence of secretary Trust Shashi Khajuria and other Members.
