SRINAGAR, Aug 24: Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) has so far spent Rs 208 crore on improving the inter-district connectivity and providing better road access to world famous tourist destinations of Aharbal and Pahalgam in South Kashmir.
The public relations officer of ERA said that under the transport sector of its ongoing Multi-Sector Project for Infrastructure Rehabilitation (MPIR) funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB), ERA has taken up work on five major road sub-projects having total road length of more than 115 Km.
He said that road sub-projects taken up for execution by ERA in South Kashmir included improvement and upgradation of 38 Km Pampore-Ladhoo-Khrew-Lethpora loop road, 24 Km Natipora-Newa-Pulwama road, 24 Km Habdipora-Kaddar-Qaimoh road, 29 Km Bijbehara-Langanbal Road (detour to Pahalgam), 38 Km Wanpoh-Chawalgam-Aharbal road.
He said ERA has also taken up construction of six bridge sub-projects namely Soafshali, Laktipora, Sail, Tokina, Kirkadal and Wahibugh bridges, out of which work on Soafshali and Laktipora bridges has already been completed while as work on remaining is nearing completion.
The PRO said that the information was given to Chief Executive Officer, ERA, Saurabh Bhagat during his daylong visit to South Kashmir road projects.
