KATHUA, Sept 28: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Dr Manohar Lal Sharma strongly supported the genuine demands of the daily wagers, ITI and CP workers while interacting with them at Chief Engineer PHE premises where the workers are sitting on continued dharna and criticized the State Government over unnecessary delay in the regularization of these agitating workers.
Dr Sharma lamented the BJP- PDP Government on the anti- employ and anti- youth policies they have adopted since the formation of coalition the State. He said that the approach of Government seems to anti employee in every sphere in general and particularly in the case of daily wagers/casual labours, ITI workers and CP workers. The Government has failed to provide monthly remuneration/wages to these workers since long.
The Congress leader assured full support to the suffering daily rated workers and assured to take up their matter with the highest forum. He further said that Congress party will raise the matter in the Assembly in the coming session. He said thousands of daily wagers/casual labours, CP and ITI workers are working tirelessly in the PHE Department as also in PDD, PWD, Forest, Tourism, Fisheries’ and RDD for more than ten to fifteen years. The Government should be thankful to all these workers who despite financial hardships are running the departments.
Dr Sharma demanded the earliest release of their pending salaries without any further delay as Rs 400 crore have been saved by increasing retirement age of State Government employs per annum and total amount of Rs 800 crore is lying with the Government of financial years 2014-2015 and year 2015-2016. Naresh Sharma former president Municipal Council Kathua and Kulbir Singh Pathania, secretary PCC also accompanied.
