NAGROTA, Sept 29: Continuing with his mass contact drive in Nagrota Assembly Constituency, Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana today expressed anguish over performance deficit of the PDP-BJP Government, saying development cannot be held ransom by competitive reactionary politics.
“Instead of settling down and solving the problems of people, the coalition partners are still in the process of scoring points over one another, as a consequence of which development has suffered adversely”, he said while registering the problems of people of Asrarabad, Ragoora and Sandoori Mawali during a day-long Development Awareness Grievances Camp (DAGC).
Mr Rana said the entire State in general and the Jammu province in particular is craving for maintenance and upgradation of various utility services like roads, power, drinking water, irrigation, civic amenities etc besides developmental push but the insensitive Government keeps deliberately unleashing controversies to hide its capacity and capability to meet the needs of the people.
He said development and public welfare cannot be undertaken just by misleading the people through propaganda machinery but this requires a connect with the ground situation, which unfortunately the present dispensation is missing from day one. He referred to problems of the people which have accumulated during the past six months and said there seems to be lack of political will in solving these.
Referring to local issues, the Provincial President said the purpose of having DAGC is to seek the public opinion and to work out a strategy to make the administrative machinery move in accordance with urges of the people. He said the basic services are in a very dilapidated condition, which has added to the woes of people.
In response to demands made by the people, Mr Rana took up the issues pertaining to upgrading civic amenities, ensuring power supply strictly as per schedule besides power and drinking water problems of various areas with the concerned and sought immediate redressal. He also announced Rs 3 lakh from his Constituency Development Fund for upgrading the transformer to cater to the needs of more areas.  He said power and drinking water facilities are required to be ensured especially during the ensuing Navratras.
Mr Rana assured the people that he will highlight their issues at every fora so that their problems are mitigated earnestly. “As public representative, I assure you that every effort will be made to seek redressal to your problems at the earliest”, he said.
