Speaker reviews arrangements for Autumn Session, seeks cooperation of all parties

SRINAGAR, Sept 29:  Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta reviewed the security and other arrangements for the upcoming Autumn Session of the State Legislature at a high level meeting here today.
Threadbare discussions were held on different issues related to security and other arrangements for smooth conduct of session scheduled to begin on October 3.
Director General of Police, K Rajendra Kumar and ADGP, Security, V. K. Singh briefed the meeting about the security arrangements put in place at the Assembly Complex, MLAs hostel and other areas and routes to be used by the Legislators.
Director General Information and Public Relations, Zaffar Ahmed Bhat informed the meeting that all arrangements have been put in place for the smooth coverage of the proceedings of both the Houses and facilities to be provided to the print and electronic media to facilitate their entry in the legislature complex.
The officers of different departments including Traffic, Public Health Engineering, Fire Services, Estates, Floriculture, Government Press, Power Development Department, JKTDC, Health Department gave details regarding arrangements made by them for the ensuing session of the legislature.
Commissioner Secretary GAD, Law Secretary, Secretary Legislative Assembly, Director Estates, Director Floriculture, Director Hospitality and Protocol, Director Fire and Emergency Services, Managing Director JKTDC, Managing Director JKPCC, IGP Kashmir Range, IGP CID, besides officers and officials of line departments and Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, Speaker sought cooperation of all the political parties to ensure smooth conduct of the proceedings of the upcoming Assembly Session.
Chairing a meeting of party leaders and chief whips of different political parties, Speaker said he hoped that all the Members would utilize the time fixed for session judiciously to highlight issues of public interest.
Minister for Horticulture, Hajj & Auqaf, Abdul Rehman Veeri, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Syed Basharat Bukhari, Minister for Science & Technology and Animal Husbandry, Sajad Gani Lone, besides legislators, Ali Mohammad Sagar (NC), Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen (PDF), Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami CPI (M), Zahoor Ahmed Mir (PDP) and Rajeev Jasrotia (BJP) gave suggestions to make the session result-oriented.
They also suggested increasing time for Business during the course of session. They assured the Speaker of their full cooperation in running the House in a cordial manner.
While discussing the issue of increasing time of Business, the Speaker said that decision in this regard will be taken in Business Advisory Committee meeting. He said that directions have already been given to the Government to ensure presence of officers during Zero Hour.
Secretary, Legislative Assembly Mr. Mohammad Ramzan, Special Secretary, Legislative Assembly, M. R. Singh and other senior officers of Assembly Secretariat were present on the occasion.
Later, Speaker chaired Press Advisory Committee to review the arrangements for the smooth coverage of the proceedings of autumn session 2015.
He called for objective reporting of the proceedings of the session.
The Speaker sought cooperation from the print and electronic media in highlighting the issues of public interest which will be raised by the legislators in the House.
While responding to the demands of accommodation facilities for Jammu based media persons, the Speaker said that suitable accommodation will be provided to the media persons on priority basis.
Regarding the live telecast of the session, the Secretary of Legislative Assembly informed that no media agencies will be allowed to telecast or broadcast the proceedings of the House live, however, the TV Channels can telecast the deferred live.
