Srinagar, Sept 30: A man committed suicide by setting himself ablaze while a lady made an abortive attempt on her life at two separate places in Valley.
In a rare case, a police spokesman said a 50-year-old man identified as Bashir Ahmad Reshi hailing from Zainapora area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district, set himself on fire. “He was shifted to SMHS Hospital in Srinagar for treatment where doctors declared him brought dead. Police have registered a case under FIR number 70/15 under Section 309 RPC in this regard. After completing medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites,” the spokesman said.
The spokesman said a lady (name with held) who hails from Manzigam in Ashmuqam area of Anantnag district consumed some poisonous substance at her home. “She was shifted to District Hospital Anantnag for treatment wherefrom she was referred to SKIMS Soura in Srinagar for further treatment. Police have registered a case in this regard.
