Promoting sports in State

Sir,
This has reference to the news item ‘J&K climbers win 13 medals in NZ sport climbing competition’ DE Oct 1.
The success achieved by these sports persons in the games underlines the fact that there is immense talent available in the State which needs to be tapped at the right time, then groomed and provided opportunities at State, nation and international levels. Alas, that does not happen in our State. There are many obstacles which prevent the sports sector from flourishing. First of all, there is not adequate sports infrastructure available at district level. In most of the districts, there are no playgrounds or Indoor Stadium where players can hone their skills. If at all it exists, there are no coaches available to impart training to the budding players. Then there are financial constraints involved in sponsoring promising  players.
There  is no comprehensive sports policy in the State which may take care of the issues involved in sports. Those who excel usually do it at individual level.
Yours etc….
