Srinagar, Oct 2: Threatening state-wide agitation, the Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) and Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) today demanded the ouster of Director Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) and Principal Government Medical College (GMC).
Addressing a press conference, the DAK president Dr Nisar-ul-Hassan alleged that the Director SKIMS Showkat Zargar is “tainted” and “corrupt” official. “Despite documentary evidence against him for his involvement in financial irregularities, corruption, nepotism and fraud he continues to hold his position,” the DAK president said and demanded his immediate ouster.
Similarly, Hassan claimed that the appointment of Dr Rafiq Pampori, Principal GMC Srinagar, is “illegal and against recruitment rules”. The DAK president accused the both officials of ruining prestigious health institutes of Valley and said they should be immediately terminated from their services.
The DAK president, who was flanked by the medicos and para-medics of SKIMS and SMHS, threatened State Government with agitation if these officials are not ousted. “We have nothing personal against these people but they have ruined our institutes and are involved in serious corruption,” he said.
The DAK president also expressed concern over the continous sale of spurious drugs in the Valley and demanded death punishment for the “culprits” involved in the business of these drugs. He said that there is a deep-rooted nexus between the officials and those who sell spurious drugs and urged Government to go tough against these people.
