Ex-Para Military Forces Association’s relay hunger strike enters 22nd day

JAMMU, Oct 2: Alleging large scale discrimination being meted out to them the Ex-Central Para Military Forces Welfare Association continued its relay hunger strike at Hari Singh Park on the 22nd consecutive day today.
Association general secretary Darshan Kumar said that so far no leader of the ruling party or the Opposition has bothered to pay a visit to the site of relay hunger strike and listen to the woes of retired personnel of Central Para military Forces, who have been agitating in support of their just and genuine demands since September 11.
They are demanding status of Ex-Servicemen for them for having served the country like personnel of defence forces; One Rank, One Pension for them, enhancement in medical allowance to Rs 2000, increase in widow pension at par with the male retirees; Making available CSD facilities to them besides other demands voiced from time to time.
The association has urged all the Central Para Military Forces veterans, veer naris and their dependents to join the association immediately for achieving the fundamental rights. The veterans from Rajouri and Poonch districts were asked to contact Shabir Ahmed Khan for coordinating with the association forthwith.
