SRINAGAR, Oct 2: Ahead of autumn session of Assembly, Jammu Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) today held a meet of its legislators and senior party members to chalk-out the strategy to corner Government over wide-range of issues. The party also deliberated over the Bills submitted by National Conference and other legislators seeking decriminalization of bovine slaughter.
The meeting that was held at official residence of JKPCC chief, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, this evening was attended by party legislators and senior leaders.
The party decided to corner the Government over wide-range of issues including lack of rehabilitation of September 2014 flood victims and “deteriorating” law and order situation in the Valley.
“We will target the Government on the lack of rehabilitation of flood victims of Valley and the much-hyped Rs 44000 crore flood rehabilitation package. We will also take up the issue of deteriorating law and order situation in Valley as a result of which several innocent lives were lost in north Kashmir including that of a 3 year old kid. The Government has failed to contain the situation and ensure peace,” said a Congress legislator.
The JKPCC would also take up the issue of growing unemployment in the Valley and the problems faced by common people. “You see the Government had announced to advertise 40,000 posts but nothing has been done. People are facing problems at small levels like that of ration etc. So we will also take up these issues in the House as well,” said a Congress leader.
The issue of Bills introduced by NC and other legislators including one on beef ban was also discussed. The party may support the NC Bill in the House. “The issue of beef ban was raked up by communal elements who are getting dictations from Nagpur (the headquarters of RSS). You see there was no problem like this in the State during previous governments. But these problems emerged only after this ‘communal Government’ came into power so we will definitely defeat their designs”, said a party leader.
Congress would also corner over “growing influence” of Sangh Parivar in the State. “We will not allow them to divide this State or country by their communal politics and will fight them,” said a leader after an hour long meeting.
Besides legislators and top brass of the party who attended the meeting were former PCC President Peerzada Sayeed, former Minister Sham Lal Sharma, former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, Mula Ram, Taj Mohi-u-Din, Raman Bhalla, Ravinder Sharma and Farooq Andrabi.
The legislators who attended the meeting included DyCLP Leader Aijaz Ahmad Khan, Leader of CLP Upper House Jugal Kishore Sharma, Jehangir Mir, G.M Saroori, G N Monga Haji Abdul Rashid, Usman Majeed, Mohd Muzaffar Parray, Mohd Amin Bhat, Naresh Gupta, Rani Gargi Billoria, Ch.Mohd Akram, Gulzar Ahmad Wani MLA and Ch Mumtaz Khan.
