J&K Govt responsible for no hike in VDCs, SPOs salaries: Jitendra

JAMMU: Union Minister in Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh today blamed the Jammu and Kashmir Government for not hiking the salaries of Village Defence Committee members and Special Police Officers.

”As far as VDCs and SPOs are concerned, their salaries were doubled last year, but they did not receive the emoluments because the State Government said that it had no finances for the purpose,” Dr Singh said while addressing a public gathering in Bani Tehsil of Kathua district.

He suggested that the State should earmark a separate amount for the purpose in the forthcoming Central Package for Jammu and Kashmir.

During his tour of Bani Assembly Constituency, Dr Singh also announced Rs 40 lakh MPLAD for Bani in addition to the proposal for a Kendriya Vidyalaya, Regional language Radio FM channel and a Railway link.

”Out of Rs 40 lakh MPLAD, Rs 20 lakhs will be disbursed immediately and will be meant for starting the work for construction of two class rooms in High school in Dapar and Duggain Blocks in addition to fencing of ground at Chonuri,” the Union Minister said.

Dr Singh suggested to the local MLA to develop a concept paper for an Inter-State Tourist Circuit including Bani and the adjacent areas of Himachal Pradesh, so that the natural scenic beauty of Bani could be utilized to promote tourism employment and revenue generation. (AGENCIES)
