Dy Chairman LC, Air Commodore call on Governor

SRINAGAR, Oct 6: Jahangir Mir, Deputy Chairman, J&K Legislative Council, called on Governor. N. N. Vohra, here at the Raj Bhavan today.
Mr. Mir briefed the Governor about various issues which were coming up before the Legislative Council during its ongoing session. The Governor and Mr. Mir also discussed certain issues relating to the socio-economic development of district Poonch, including problems arising from the recurring hostile activities from across the LoC.
Air Commodore Manoj Marathe, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station, Srinagar also called on Governor and briefed him  about the IAF’s initiatives in further securing the frontiers. They also discussed certain issues relating to the Leh and Srinagar Air bases which relate to civil airlines operations.
The Governor lauded the crucial air defence role which the Indian Air Force is discharging in the Western Sector, besides providing valuable support in carrying out rescue, relief and evacuation operations and enabling the civil authorities to deal with emergencies and natural calamities.
Meanwhile, a delegation of All India Fair Price Retailers Foundation (AIFPRF), led by its Working President, Prahlad Modi, called on Governor.
The delegation comprising Himat Bhai Patel, Grish Juyal, Avey Gupta, Aijaz Ahmad Khan, Abdul Rahim Shah informed the Governor about several important issues relating to the infrastructure and functioning of the Fair Price Shops in J&K. They also discussed with the Governor the significant difficulties being faced by the Depot holders and retailers in regard to the distribution of fair price commodities to the entitled public.
The delegation demanded that the State Government should take time-bound action to remedy the serious problems relating to the functioning of Fair price Shops and to alleviate the lot of those who run them. The Governor promised to take up these issues with the State Government.
