POONCH, Oct 8: One person was killed while three others injured when a bus fell into a gorge in Sawjian area of Mandi in district Poonch this afternoon.
A police spokesman said that the mishap took place when the bus No. JK02H/803 was on way to Mandi from Sawjian. When it had covered hardly 4 kms distance, the driver lost control on the vehicle due to some mechanical failure and it rolled down into a gorge.
People of the area rushed to spot after coming to know about the accident. The police party also reached there soon. They shifted the four injured persons into the accident to Mandi hospital where one of them was declared as dead. The deceased was later identified as Tanveer Ahmed, resident of village Jalian. The three injured were identified as Javed Ahmed from Jallian, Misri Bi from Chikri and a minor boy.
Meanwhile, a school teacher was injured after she was hot by a bike at Mendhar today. The mishap took place when a speeding bike rider (school boy) hit the teacher Tazeem Akhtar outside Govt Middle School ( Boys) gate. She was coming out of the school after school got closed. The boy of nearby Higher Secondary School riding on bike No. Jk-12/1249, passed outside the school, hit the teacher and escaped from the spot. The injured teacher was later shifted to SDH Mendhar. Police has registered a case in this connection.
