AKHNOOR, Oct 8: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Sham Lal Sharma has alleged that BJP leadership has shattered the aspirations of Jammu people and both the coalition partners were trying to communalize situation to divert attention of the people from basic issues just to cover up their failures.
Addressing public meeting at Akhnoor town today, PCC leader targeted BJP is dual and surrendered policy and stated that BJP has stabbed the people who have voted them to power.
He said the BJP’s silence on the current issues has created a sense of uncertainty in the State. Sharma alleged that BJP is playing with emotions of Jammu people.
Criticising that BJP has not cleared its stand on issues like additional tax imposed on Helicopter service for Shri Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims and beef ban which has hurt the sentiments of Hindus. “Why BJP observes silence when emotions of the Jammu people being hurt openly,” Sharma added.
He cautioned the Jammu people that they are to be extra vigilant from attempts being made by BJP to destabilize democratic foundations and centuries old secular faith, to divert people’s attention from their total failure to provide promised governance.
PCC leader lambasted senior BJP leader and Dy Chief Minister for his false claims that the coalition Government would implement ban on cow slaughter and beef eating with full force and said that the DyCM and other BJP leaders must tender unconditional apology for hurting the sentiments of people of the State. People of Jammu will not forgive the BJP for the dirty politics it has been playing in the State.
Former Minister and senior PCC leader Raman Bhalla alleged that the BJP has stabbed the people of Jammu in the back and violated the peoples mandate to join Government in J&K. The people of Jammu region had voted the BJP under the misguided notion that it will hold its ground firmly and would act as a watchdog of Jammu’s genuine interest but it stood exposed.
Mr Bhalla alleged that BJP-PDP Govt failed to perform and deliver good to the people. They are unable to face the wrath of the public. Now, to cover up their misdeeds and failures, they are trying to play dangerous game of exploiting religious sentiments of the people of both the communities and engineering communal tension across the State. He warned the people to under stand their game plan of both the parties and maintain peace and communal harmony.
Later, the party leaders and activists held protest demonstration against PDP-BJP Government and burnt its effigy in the town. They also shouted slogans against BJP leadership.
Senior leaders Manjit Singh, Faqeer Nath, Kanta Bhan, Pranav Shagotra PYC president, Kuldeep Verma and Ram Swaroop also spoke on the occasion.
