KATHUA, Oct 9: A one day workshop on Stress Management was organized by Kathua Campus, University of Jammu, for the students of MBA programme at the Kathua Campus.
Forty MBA students participated in the workshop wherein Prof Sanjay Bhal- Director Principal at Sai Institute of Management, Amritsar, was the resource person. The workshop was organized under the overall guidance of Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Rector Kathua Campus, University of Jammu.
Prof Sanjay Bhal explained in detail the stress feelings, the symptoms of stress and the causes of stress. He added that life doesn’t exist without stress and stress comes through stressors. He elaborated on the different connotations of stress as positive and negative both. He opined that stress to an optimum limit acts as a motivator as well to propel action in the desired direction.
Quoting Swami Vivekananda, he said that individuals themselves are responsible for the stressful situations, which is the outcome of their own deeds. Further, he added that pure thoughts and simple life, can control the impact of negative stress in the lives of human beings. He discussed in detail various stressors such as national stressors, environmental stressors and chemical stressors, mind traps etc.
A special session on stress coping and management was organized in which students were trained how to cope up with stress. He listed the strategies by which stress and stressful situations could be turned rewarding. While enumerating the harmful impacts of stress, he said that stress causes diseases like sugar, blood pressure, ulcers and many more.
Later, the session ran through exhaustive discussion and interaction to devise coping strategies for the participating students.
According to Prof Neelu Rohmetra, the main objective of organizing a workshop on the subject of stress management has been to equip the students with the stress coping mechanisms in this competitive environment. “Ability to manage stress and channelize it in the constructive direction is one of the pre requisites of a sound professional. Hence, this training is a step towards meeting that purpose,” she added.
Earlier, Dr Naresh Sharma, in-charge MBA Programme, The Management School, presented welcome address as the coordinator for the workshop. Dr Vivek Sharma, Academic Coordinator presented formal vote of thanks.
